Our rustic Barn, just outside downtown, is the perfect spot to unwind with friends and family. Frequently asked questions

Do you offer tastings?

Yes! We offer tastings of our handcrafted ciders, wines and award-winning spirits. You can enjoy a flight, a neat pour, or one of our signature cocktails made in-house.

Where are you located?

You can find us at 495 E. Washington St., Middleburg, VA, in our custom-built barn-style tasting room. Completed in 2017, it offers a warm, spacious setting for sipping and gathering—just a short walk from downtown Middleburg.

Do you take reservations?

Yes! We do accept reservations, especially for groups or special occasions. Walk-ins are always welcome when space allows. We do REQUIRE private reservations for parties of 12 or more. To reserve, use our reservation form here.

How do your tasting spaces work?

Visit our cocktail loft for spirits tasting and cocktails or our cider tasting room for cider and wine tastings. The cocktail loft is 21+ only. Cider/Wine cannot be served in the same area as Cocktails / Spirits

Can I take a tour of the distillery?

We do not currently offer formal tours, but our team is always happy to share information about our distilling and cider-making processes during your visit.

Are children allowed?

Yes - families are welcome in our main cider tasting area downstairs. Our cocktail loft upstairs is 21+ only due to safety concerns. We ask that children remain supervised at all times, staying at the same table as adults and within arms reach, as our space includes production areas and working equipment.

Are dogs allowed?

Leashed, friendly dogs are welcome both inside and on our outdoor patio.

Do you serve food?

Yes we do! Click here to see our current food offerings. Outside food and beverages are not permitted.

Can I host a private event?

Do you ship cider or spirits?

We can ship cider and spirits within Virginia and to select military bases, shop them online here. We can also be found in many VA ABC stores.  All our products are available for purchase at the tasting room.

Can I bring outside alcohol?

Bringing outside wine, beer, or alcohol onto Mt Defiance property is strictly prohibited. Any outside alcohol will be confiscated, and guests may be asked to leave the premises.

Is there historical significance to your location?

While our barn is a newer build (2017), Mt. Defiance pays tribute to the rich history of Middleburg and the nearby Mt. Defiance battlefield, part of the 1863 Battle of Middleburg.
